The Director of QASED Met the Head of Taliban Political Office in Qatar

During an official visit to Qatar, Dr. Abdul Baqi Amin, the director of Qased Strategic Research Center met Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the head of Taliban political office in Doha, as well as the members of the Intra-Afghan Talks Committee in this office and discussed various issues regarding peace in Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Mr. Amin discussed the opportunities and obstacles to the Afghan peace process with Mullah Baradar, the Taliban’s political deputy and head of their political office in Qatar.

Dr. Amin said: “All sides are tired of the war and look for peace and stability in the country; at the same time there are concerns about some issues among all Afghans, and many of these concerns are related to the post-US-Taliban agreement. Therefore, assuring the people about these issues is a must in this stage”.

The head of Taliban political office in Qatar also insisted that the interests of Afghans and Afghanistan in the ongoing process would not be neglected under any circumstances. He promised that the Taliban are not trying to monopolize power in Afghanistan and that they are ready to the engagement of all political groups. According to Mullah Baradar, they are ready for the Intra-Afghan dialogue on all outstanding issues. He also promised that they will work hard for national unity and that the next stage (after the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan) will be the period of stability and development in all arenas.
